Novi’s business attraction strategy seeks to
target companies within the following growth

Automotive
Detroit, Michigan has always been considered the
“Automotive Capital of the World” with the top three
American manufacturers headquartered in southeastern
Michigan – Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors. There
are many automotive suppliers located in Novi
including: Alcan, Cooper-Standard Automotive,
Intier-Magna Automotive, Tata Technologies, and
Toyota Boshoku America.
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
U.S DOT Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) & Vehicle-to-Infrastructure
(V2I) Technology Test Bed
An intelligent vehicle
communications network located in the cities of Novi,
Farmington, Farmington Hills, and Livonia, Michigan. With 58
roadside units, the VII Development and Test Environment
(DTE) deployed by the USDOT in the Novi area is by far the
largest single deployment of VII assets in Michigan.
Currently USDOT is in the process of awarding the
operation/maintenance of the test bed.

Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) encompass a
broad range of wireless and wire line
communications-based information and electronics
technologies. When integrated into the
transportation system's infrastructure, and in
vehicles themselves, these technologies relieve
congestion, improve safety and enhance American
productivity. The IntelliDrive Michigan Testbed is
located in Oakland County MI and centered mostly in
Novi. The network covers 45 Square miles; These
roadways are equipped with 52 Dedicated Short Range
Communications (DSRC) roadside equipment (RSE)
units. ITS companies such as Vector CAN-Tech,
SIEMENS, and Denso are located in Novi.
Life Sciences
Novi has a diverse and innovative population of
companies which specialize in medical devices,
healthcare institutions, medical offices, and
biotechnologies. Companies such as Molecular
Innovations, Providence Park Hospital, Henry Ford
Health System, Trinity Health, Di-Coat Corp., and
Innovative Research.
Alternative Energy
Novi is very much a green community. The
Community Development department is in the process
of drafting ordinance changes that would include the
allowance of solar panels and wind turbines. Novi is
a viable community for the R&D and manufacturing of
alternative energy products and companies such as
ITC Holdings, Novi Energy, and Patrick Energy
Services.
Robotics & Automation
Robotics & Automation or intelligent machines are
used throughout several sectors of business. Whether
the work is too dangerous or too precise, the
capability of these applications aid in medicine,
defense, space and underwater exploration, service
industries, disaster relief, manufacturing and
assembly and entertainment. Companies such as Comau,
Nachi Robotic Systems.
